Models Ramp Designers Outfits

We have always seen models walk the ramp in designer outfits. But afashion show recently held in the capital was quite unique in its ownway. The designer outfits was very much there, but the models werereplaced by well known faces of the fashion circuit who walked the rampfor Khushii, the NGO for underprivileged kids. This time Khushiibrought together India's leading style gurus at its first fashioninspired event 'A Rendezvous with Elegance', conceptualized exclusivelyby the newly inducted Governing Board Member, philanthropist by natureand trendsetter in the fashion world- Leena Singh (Ashima – Leena)."The statement that fashion designers are mostly associated withglamour, is not true. We definitely think about the society and look infor various opportunities to contribute. As a designer, all I could dowas to communicate my idea to other designers and they really liked theconcept and got ready to participate in this social cause" sheexplained. The memorable fashion show witnessed Creations by 21 Indiandesigners, including Ranna Gill, Nikhil and Shatanu, Varun Bahl, RohitBal, Rajesh Pratap Singh and many more with beautiful ladies andaccomplished gentlemen displayed the breathtaking ensembles.

Seenwalking on ramp were Ramola Bachchan, Feroz Gujral, the very beautifulKalyani Chawla, model turned actor Sudhanshu Pandey, Irfan Khan, thestunning Tina Chatwal, Tanisha Mohan, couples AD & Sabina Singh andSanjay & Sheena Sharma, Vandhana Vadehera along with models LaxmiRana, Sonalika Sahay, Esha Gupta and Lalit Tehran. The best part of theshow was when the 'strong man' of fashion, FDCI President, Suniel Sethitook a shy turn on the ramp while walking. Former cricketer Kapil Devwho is also the chairman of Khushii shared the ramp with beautifulwomen. The evening has also seen Ritu Kumar, Thenny, JJ Valaya, Gauriand Nainika, Mohd Azzarudin and Rina Dhakab ask in the glory of theenviron. "I am very grateful to all the designers who have came forwardfor this cause and presented such a grand show which was not onlyenjoyable but also beneficial in some way or the other" Kapil said.This was essentially a fund raiser event and the proceeds will beutilised for the betterment of the kids who are in need ofsocio-economic development. unveiledby budding designer Payal Kapoor who is all set to debut in theupcoming fashion week. Though she stayed non-committed on which fashionweek will she showcase at, she is excited about the developments and iskeeping her fingers crossed for the same. The designer, who believes indesigning for the modern woman, takes her inspiration from nature,events and objects around the world. Her brand – Famous – talks aboutthe fusion of the traditional with the modern. Payal expressed, "I haveused a range of fabrics starting from chiffons, georgettes, cotton andlace which is a blend of viscose and polyester. Being a textiledesigner myself, tie-n-dye has been one of the techniques which I haveapplied a lot in my creations." The plethora of colours which appearsin this art of dyes really comes out well on the fabrics. Talking aboutthe colour palette, she revealed that coral, light pink, blue, salmon,turquoise and red are used extensively.

Since the designer istargeting contemporary women between the age group of 25-60 years, thecollection presents a subtle yet trendy look with very minimalembellishments which have been accentuated by a bit of shine sprinkledeverywhere. Clothes have been adorned with yellow and blue colouredstones, with touches of Swarovski crystals which offer a sophisticatedlook to the ensembles. Borrowing inspiration from the Indian saridrapes, the silhouettes are underlined with full body drapes whichaccording to the designer are simple yet slightly tweeted. Stocked atthe Samsaara store, the collection comprises tunics, dresses, gowns andkurtis. "Kurtis are going to be a big style statement even in the nextseason. These are wardrobe essentials." she concluded.
