What happens when a leading mall dealing with cult brands joins hands with style icons and fashion designers? We get Zeitgeist 2009 - a fashion extravaganza that assimilated creativity, talent, beauty, designs and glamour at Select City Walk in the capital city. The event, an out and out affair of razzle-dazzle and glitterati, was organized in association with Archisha educational Trust and Chavi Shanti Dham which aims at supporting child welfare by helping the underprivileged children. An array of designers showcased their latest collections as renowned models like Nayonika Chatterjee, Amanpreet Wahi, Krishna Somani, Ekta Chaudhary, Kajal Srivastava and Anjali Raut walked the ramp strutting in the sensational designs Participating designers who came forward for this noble cause were Nishka Lulla, Kapil and Monika, Sulakshana Monga Kavita and Meenu, Manu and Mamta, and Renu Dadlani. The show was well choreographed by Vinay Gupta. Guests present were eminent designers like Prateek and Sheeba, Charu Parsher, Sanjana Jon and many more. Designer duo Kavita and Meenu presented an amalgamation of traditional fabrics and designs with contemporary silhouettes that adorns the modern Indian woman. Their creation - 'Vintage Luxe' - has been inspired from the Mughal era and was filled with opulence, richness and royalty. The colour palette includes fuchsia, green, purple and gold with rich embroideries, making it apt for the festivities this month. As the name suggests, Bella-Ragazza - the Peacock 2009 by Manu and Mamta presented a collection with bright colour story and grandeur which will surely appeal to the brides. Making a grand entry with her Lavanya Collection, Renu Dadlani presented a blend of ethnic elegance and contemporary pret that comprises lehengas, sarees and suits. With an aspiration to revive the age old handicrafts and embroideries, the designers' collection uses luxurious fabrics like net, georgettes, brocade and other embellishments.

With a signature feel of youthfulness and femininity, Nishka Lulla's pret line Nishkk managed to garner applauses galore. It was a good response altogether and since it was associated with a noble cause, I thought of being a part of this endeavour. It was my first time in Delhi I really enjoyed, Nishka shared. Designer twosome Kapil and Monika had 'Fashion' fame model turned pip up poster doll Mugdha Godse as their showstopper. The collection highlighted a plethora of festive colours spanning from pink, beige, mauve, red, black and white. With Swarovski crystals ruling the embellishments, the ensembles had gorgeous sarees brilliantly draped. Inglot, the world leader in colour cosmetics presented the 'Avante Garde' look. Known for their chic and world class stylish accessories, Aldo showcased their latest fall-winter trend which was urbane, modish and fashionable. Beauty queen, Diana Hayden set the ramp on fire as she walked the ramp for Sulakshna Monga. After making a sensational debut at Lakme Fashion Week in 2006, Surily Goel has never looked back. With a vision that goes beyond the ramp, she has given stylish looks to numerous Hindi films like Jaane man, Salam Namaste, The Last Lear, and the much awaited Blue, not forgetting to mention Priety Zinta starrer 'Har Pal'. Goel has recently unveiled her new bridal collection - 'Alchemy'. The highlight of the collection is the gold and silver floral motifs that give the ghagras and kurtas a more vibrant and lively look.

These Indian silhouettes will be appreciated by women who want to take along fond memories of style in their bridal trousseau, said Surily Goel.The colour palette features pulsating shades of mustard yellows to reds to indigo blues moving to prints in turquoise, maroons and emerald greens. Known for her abstract art techniques, the designer has used printed crepe silk base, nets, georgette and velvets treated with cutwork and colour blocking technique to form Mughal Broasso printed fabric. Talking about her upcoming projects she revealed that one can see her work in movies like Chance Pe Dance' and 'It's My Life where she is dressing actress Genelia. Revealing more about her designing for actor Zayed Khan in Blue, she informed, The movie has been extensively shot in the Bahamas, keeping this in mind I've tried to deviate from the emblematic beach wear, and have tried to create an uber stylish beach look.
